Financial Firsts
When your child turns 13, they will graduate from the Ice Age Kids Club to our GlacierEdge program. The Glacier Edge program offers a number of products to guide you and your child through several "Financial First" milestones. You can review these special products below or visit our GlacierEdge site for details.
Grow My Savings
Milestone Age: 13-23
When your teen turns 13, they can keep their money in a basic savings, or maximize their savings with a Certificate of Deposit or GlacierEdge Money Market. The GlacierEdge Money Market is a special savings account for members age 13-23. It earns the same interest rate as our top tier ($100,000+ balance)
but requires only a $100 balance. They are allowed up to six withdrawals per month in case they need access to their money. Deposits can be made at any time.
First Checking - Is my teen ready for a checking account?
Milestone Age: 16-23
A checking account can be an excellent learning
tool on managing your money.
Members under age 18 will need either a parent on the
account, or a job (with a paystub) to open a
checking account at Glacier Hills.
Some of the benefits of our Free
Student Checking include:
- Free Checks
- No minimum balance
- Free online and mobile account access
- Free Visa Check Card
- Free Overdraft Protection
First Credit Card - Is my teen ready for credit?
Milestone Age: 16-23
Glacier Hills Credit Union offers a first credit card
program for students age 16 or older to help teach
your teen how to use credit responsibly.
To qualify for the program, you must be at least
16 years old, show proof of income, and have
parent's permission (parent’s do not need
to co-sign). Students must also review our credit
quiz and get 100% on our credit test.
First Auto Loan
Milestone Age: 18-23
Members age 18 or older who have never had
an auto loan before may be eligible for our first
auto loan program, where you would get our
"best" rate (given to members with a high credit
score) on an auto loan.
